PLEASE INVITE YOUR FRIENDS TODAY: Save the Weekend, Saturday, November 1st and Sunday November 2nd, 2014, for this ever popular and very spirited festival of remembrance and revelry. This event swelled to over 9200 participants within our first 4 years. This creative spectacle honoring Mexican traditions while generating modern interpretations, connects a broad spectrum of local characters. Rooted in community, this event embraces a universe of ideas from a legion of talented skull inspired artists, mariachi musicians, painted performers and enthusiastic skeleton clad revelers. Because of our ever-expanding event size, the celebration has expanded to 2 DAYS centered at the Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale, Revolution Live Entertainment Complex, Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, Museum of Art and various venues throughout downtown Fort Lauderdale.
Sunday afternoon, join your community, dress up in traditional skeleton wear. In the afternoon led by Event Founder Jim Hammond from Puppet Network and his giant puppets, the costumed revelers will follow Riverwalk – Fort Lauderdale through the Fort Lauderdale Historical Museum District to SW 3rd street in a colorful sidewalk parade. SW 3rd Street will be closed and teaming with a wide range of spectacles and activities for the diverse audience. There will be Mexican Ofrenda altars for loved ones in the New River Inn, original indie art and crafts for sale in the Craft Crypt, Mariachi alongside indigenous Latin dancers spotlighting cultural performing art traditions on the Folklorico Stage, and arts activities at the Museum of Art. Special craft projects and face painting will also be available for children in Los Angelitos Kids Zone. Interspersed throughout you'll find skeleton painted ponies, art installations, mask making workshops, a hearse & low rider meet up, Latin American food trucks and interactive street performers.
