Alas... the haunting has begun!!  Haunted attractions are opening their doors all over the world.  Although Universal's Halloween Horror Nights is one of the most publicized haunts in the nation, there are several other amazing haunts worth mentioning.

Fan favorite, Netherworld, in Atlanta, Georgia is one of the busiest haunted attractions around.  Operating from September 23rd to November 5th, with event ticket prices ranging from $23-$35.  This year's Netherworld haunts include: Monsters and Vault 13: Meltdown.  It has even been nominated as one of the Top Haunts in the Country by USA Today's 10best!

Rob Zombie's Great American Nightmare, in Villa Park, IL, is another great haunt.  Housing three attractions based on Rob Zombie's films, as well as carnival rides!  Attractions include: Captain Spaulding’s Clown School in 3D, The Devil’s Rejects and 31.  Operating dates are September 25 to November 1st and prices range from $25-$70.

Mckamey Manor is by far the closet you can get to feeling like you are the star of a horror movie. A waiver is presented for guests willing to go through this 8 hour experience.  Since actors are given the freedom to touch and "torture" guests, anything is possible.  Each guest is also filmed the whole time.  If you enter this attraction with a partner, chances are you will be separated from them.  Talk about scary!!  This year there are three locations, New Jersey, England and their main location in San Diego.  Operating schedule and pricing are given privately through email or by phone.  However, with an extensive wait list of over 17,000 people, you might want to just visit Mckamey Manor on Youtube for now.

Last but not least is a local Orlando haunt, The Shallow Grave!  With over a 1/4 mile of scares and screams, The Shallow Grave has been getting a lot of attention lately.  Like, Netherworld, it has also been nominated as one of the Top Haunts in the Country by USA Today's 10best!  Operating from September 25th to November 5th, with a ticket price of $24.99 and a Quick Death Pass price of $39.99.  Haunts this year include: Vengeance: Blood Moon and Pavor Norturnus.  With their elaborate sets and top notch scares, The Shallow Grave is a force to be reckoned with and a definite must see in Orlando this fall!

Countdown to Spooky Town

With only 55 days until Halloween, it's crunch time for those preparing their Halloween costumes.  TV & Movie characters are always among the most popular costumes flying off the store shelves. This year will be no different.  We predict the most popular costume choice this Halloween will be Harley Quinn of Suicide Squad.

BUT! Before Halloween comes Spooky Empire!  Our costume contest has amazing prizes this year including $1000 and a custom Spooky guitar courtesy of Mohawk Crew, for Best in Show!!

We're excited to see everyone's costumes this year.  So, go all out and be creative!

2016: The Year of Horror Movies

Happy Sunday Spooky Fans!

So far, 2016 has been an awesome year for horror movies.  More than a dozen amazing movies have been released this year and all of them have done really well at the box office.  Starting with 'The Boy' and 'The Forest', which were both unique and fresh for horror fans.  Netflix had fans buzzing about their exclusive release, 'Hush'.  Next, were the summer theatrical hits including two James Wan produced movies, 'The Conjuring 2' and 'Lights Out'.  The July release of the highly anticipated follow up to the 2014 'The Purge: Anarchy' movie, 'The Purge: Election Year' did not disappoint either.  Then, there's last week's release, 'Don't Breathe' which was a huge success and one of the year's favorites among fans and critics.

With just a few more months left in 2016, there are still more exciting horror movies coming soon.  Including 'Blair Witch', 'Rings', 'The Strangers 2' and 'Leatherface'.

What's your favorite horror movie of 2016, so far?  Which yet to be released title are you excited for?  Let us know in the comments!

Do I smell pumpkin?

Happy September, Spooky Fans!

School is back in session, the crowds are dying down. But more importantly, pumpkins are yet again taking over our world!  (Well, maybe not.  But it sure feels like it).  These days, the Fall season seems to be less about pumpkin carving and more about buying all the pumpkin products available.  From pumpkin flavored coffee, cookies, peanuts and vodka to scented body lotions and candles.  You name it, it probably exists.  You can't walk into a store without seeing pumpkin products.  This trend doesn't seem like it's going away anytime soon and we're ok with that!

Are you a fan of this trend? What's your favorite pumpkin product?

The convention scene is changing, it's a whole new world and competition is high

The convention world is changing and it's a whole new ballgame not only for attendees but for us promoters as well. With new conventions popping up every weekend, and the use of the term "comic con" being thrown around so loosely, even special interest conventions such as Spooky Empire are feeling the pressure. These days if you don't have deep pockets and aren't willing to take risks you're convention could feel the effects. Booking big names is the only way to stay relevant, and it's a cutthroat game right now. Everyone is on the hunt for the next big name, and everyone wants it first. It's become a bidding war for celebrity guests, in order to win over the attendees.

Silicon Valley Comic Con was this past weekend, now headed by Apple's own Steve Wozniak and it drew a minimum of 25,000 attendees on it's opening day. According to the article we found today, 25-75k attendees is now considered a mid-level event, when only a couple of years ago that would be top level. Your DragonCons and MegaCons are now considered mid-level!

Competition just got a little stronger! Let us know your thoughts! Have any questions, feel free to ask us.
